I am a Registered Health Information Management Technician and Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based. Currently I am working on a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and looking forward to successfully completing AHIMA’s RHIA Certification Exam.
Studying nursing sparked my interest in Health Information Management. I don’t regret changing my educational path as the knowledge I gained in pathophysiology, pharmacology, and A&P studies from the nursing program has proven to be valuable in the medical coding profession. More importantly, my clinical studies in the nursing program gave me the opportunity to document in the patient’s chart; thus giving me exposure and familiarity with physician and nursing documentation of diagnoses and treatment.
